
Hotel del Rijo in Sancti Spiritus City
The Hotel del Rijo is a comfortable colonial style hotel, easy to find amid the streets of the ancient Sancti Spiritus dated 1514, it is the fourth village among the first seven founded by the Spaniards in Cuba, and the only one with a Latin name.


It is located at 12 Honorato del Castillo Street, in Sancti Spiritus, 75 miles from the historic city of Trinidad, about 360 miles west from Jose Marti International Airport in Havana City.
The Hotel del Rijo emerged from the ruins of an old large family house built between 1818 and 1827.
During the 19th century, the building was the residence of an illustrious medical doctor, Don Rudesindo Garcia Rijo.
After a meticulous reconstruction work the building opened its doors on November 18, 2001 transformed into one of the most attractive buildings in the city.
In 2007 Hotel del Rijo became in an Encanto Hotel.
The majestic facade of the Hotel del Rijo is highlighted by several iron bars and a beautiful nailed wooden great hall door, all decorated in celestial blue with marble-like veins.
As valuable as the ceiling and carpentry are the mural paintings and sculptures of the overall decoration.
